A New Year Through The Lens

New Year – New Plans!

As we look forward to the coming year, I wanted to take a moment to pause and reflect on the year that is ending. It was a difficult year in many ways for many people, but even in the midst of it all, there is hope that things will improve in the months ahead.

Whether it was a job loss, a natural disaster, or a health issue, through it all our dogs were there—steady, loyal, and present. They remind us to live in the moment and to truly be in that moment. They show us joy in the simplest things: chasing a ball, playing with a favorite toy, or doing what they are instinctively and genetically driven to do—the job they were bred for.

Each dog is a gift. A companion who never wavers, never judges, and simply wants to be by your side. And those are the reasons I photograph dogs.

I have many ideas and plans for the coming year. Some will come to fruition, some will be a work in progress, and some may not happen at all—and that’s okay. Growth isn’t always linear, and not every idea needs to be fully realized to have value.

One thing I do want to focus on in the coming year is creating more images that feature dogs with the Milky Way. I am continuing to refine my process so that, when necessary, dogs can be photographed separately and then thoughtfully incorporated into the final artwork with the Milky Way during post-processing. This will make these images more accessible to people who love this style but may not be able to participate in a traditional night-sky session.

These Milky Way images are some of my favorite pieces to create. They allow me to combine my love of dogs with fine art and storytelling in a way that feels truly special. I’m excited to continue developing this work and plan to officially launch this new offering in the next couple of months.

As we step into the new year, my hope is to keep creating meaningful artwork that honors the dogs who share our lives and the moments that matter most—because time moves quickly, but these memories deserve to last.
