When you book with Diane Davis Photography we will take care of all the details. You and your dog just need to arrive prepared to have a great time!
Discovery Call: A time is scheduled on my calendar for a phone call to discuss your session and your plans for your artwork: We will then meet in your home or a pet friendly location so I can meet your dog and get acquainted. We will then choose the time and location for your session.
The Session: There are a variety of locations that can be used for the session. If your pet is reactive I’ve got you covered. Don’t worry about your dog having to be on a lead, we will still get beautiful images.
The Reveal: One to two weeks after the session, we will meet to reveal your images and choose your artwork. Once your artwork is finished and arrives, it will be delivered by me, or I will arrange to have it shipped to you.
Signature Session (Pet Only) A session of 60-90 minutes depending on the number of dogs. If more than one dog it will more like be closer to 90 minutes to get a variety of shots for each dog. This time frame may be longer due to weather conditions and the number of breaks needed for the dogs.
Your Dog And The Milky Way!
I’m excited to introduce a refined approach to my Milky Way sessions, now offering two ways to create these images.
The Milky Way Experience is a summer-only, on-location night session where your dog is photographed under the real Milky Way. These sessions are carefully planned and designed as a true, immersive experience.
The Milky Way Composite Portrait can be created as part of a regular session, with the Milky Way photographed separately and artistically combined to create the final artwork. This option offers greater flexibility and year-round availability.
Both options result in a finished Milky Way portrait — the difference is in how the artwork is created.
If you’ve been dreaming of a Milky Way image, now there’s an option to fit your schedule and comfort level.

Frequently asked questions:
My dog is reactive, we will never get good photos of him/her.
No worries. Safety is my number one concern during a shoot and we can find a location with fewer distractions and let the dog have a great time. If a fenced area is required a Sniff Spot can be rented for an additional charge.
My dog can’t be off leash. How can we get photos without the leash and collar?
Leashes and collars can easily be removed during post processing. It is rare that a session would happen for a dog without a leash and collar.
My dog won’t look at the camera. How can we get a good expression?
I will usually start the session with the action photos being done first and further away from the dog so it will get used to having a person with a camera around. This is also part of the process of me meeting your dog before the shoot so it is familiar with me. I also have a quite extensive bag of tricks to get your dog’s attention.
Do I have to be in the photos?
Not if you don’t want to. But I like a to take a few shots of you and your dog together in case you decide you want those images later.
Who can come to the shoot?
You, your significant other, and your dog/s. I don’t allow additional people or children at the shoots. Your dog will be distracted enough by the location and every thing else going on that we need as few people as possible to work with him/her effectively to get the images we want.
